Mamaroneck Soccer Holds on to #1 State Rank

The Tigers defended their #1 State ranking in Boys Soccer Monday when Mamaroneck won, 2-0, at home against Warwick. Since losing to Yorktown, the only other section one team to appear in this week's rankings, on September 12th, the Tigers have rattled off wins in nine of their last ten contests; the team's only slip-up came in a September 28th meeting with White Plains when the two played to a 1-1 tie.

‘Ghost Ship’ Retrieved After Drifting Out Of NYC-Area Harbor

The 150-foot hull of an unfinished sailing yacht dubbed the "Ghost Ship" has been retrieved after strong winds caused it to drift from the suburban New York harbor where it was anchored. Village of Mamaroneck Manager Rich Slingerland tells The Journal News of Westchester that the aluminum boat skeleton broke loose from its mooring in the local harbor last Thursday and grounded on a nearby shoreline.

Pediatric Cancer Foundation Hosts Rock The Cure Gala in Fight to End Pediatric Cancer on November 2nd

Army Corps Near Final Flood Plan Report for Mamaroneck

A long-awaited flood remediation report being finalized by the Army Corps of Engineers for the Mamaroneck community was presented last week to the Local Summit of Larchmont/Mamaroneck. Flooding is an ever-present concern in Mamaroneck and guest speakers, Tony Gelber, Chairman of the local Flood Mitigation Committee, and Richard Slingerland, Village Manager for the Village of Mamaroneck, were tasked with explaining its causes and proposed remedies.

DEC Announces two new Certified Climate Smart Communities

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation announced today that Ulster County and the Town of Mamaroneck have earned designation as New York State's eighth and ninth Certified Climate Smart Communities, respectively. DEC awarded Ulster County with bronze-level certification at the County's "Sustainable Parking Lot Party" in Kingston on September 17. Only two other communities in the state have achieved this level of certification.
