David Hardy has been charged with felony counts of second-degree murder, attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon following the investigation into the fatal shooting that took McKenzie's life while she was a passenger in a car driving near the intersection of Chestnut Place and 3rd Street.

A Mount Vernon woman has been remanded to the Westchester County Jail for her role in the death of her 5-year-old daughter, who shot herself in the face with an illegal gun in Yonkers. On Thursday, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino Jr. announced that 24-year-old Tantania Manners has been charged with a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child following a lengthy investigation into the death of the child in Yonkers in 2015.

Mount Vernon Teams With MTA On $25 Million Project To Improve City Bridges

Mount Vernon officials recently met with members of the Metropolitan Transit Authority to discuss a multi-million dollar project that will replace five of the city's aging bridges. Late last week, Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Thomas, the city's grants team and members of the Law Department met with officials and engineers from the MTA to discuss the $25 million project to replace five city bridges along the New Haven Metro-North line, including the 10th Avenue and 3rd Avenue Bridges, which "have been closed for far too long," according to Thomas.

‘Parade Of Champions’ For Mount Vernon Basketball Champions Postponed

With rain expected to hit the area this week, officials in Mount Vernon have been forced to postpone the victory parade planned to celebrate the boy's varsity basketball team's state championship. On Wednesday, officials announced that due to the scheduled forecast, they were forced to postpone the parade - originally scheduled for Thursday - for two weeks, to Wednesday, April 19. The city of Mount Vernon has agreed to pay two brothers from Long Island $250,000 to settle a suit alleging police officers beat them outside of a club in October 2013, according to lohud.com. Double-Fatal Parkway Crash Tops Week’s News In Westchester

Speed played a role in the one-car crash that resulted in the deaths of two Westchester men on the Sprain Brook Parkway on Thursday, state police said in releasing new details about the incident. State police said that 26-year-old White Plains resident James P. Campion, the driver, and 21-year-old Mount Vernon resident Pedro O. Mattos, the passenger, were killed after Campion lost control of a 1998 Honda Civic traveling southbound on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Greenburgh at a high rate of speed at around 12:18 a.m. Police said Campion attempted to navigate around an uninvolved vehicle, before he lost control of the car, striking the guide rail and then a tree.
