At Monday's meeting, the Homer City Council also awarded contracts for a used van and replacing the high-mast harbor lights with energy-efficient LED lights. The council took these actions: Approved a contract to purchase a used 2016 Chevy Express cargo van for Public Works in the amount of $39,801; Awarded a lease to Wireless Edge Towers of New Rochelle, N.Y., to build a 145-foot tall communications tower on the Homer Spit near the Harbormaster's Building; Postponed a resolution allowing 16 Kachemak City property owners along a city water line on East End Road to hook up to city water; Awarded a contract to Puffin Electric of Homer for the Harbor High Mast LED light conversion project for $168,423.
