Police in Rye are trying to sort out a bizarre incident that involved a taxi that crashed into a tree, a violent fight and a possible stabbing. Police say the taxi slammed into a tree at the intersection of Highland and Purchase just before 1:30 a.m. An eyewitness tells News 12 he was walking his dog when he saw the taxi coasting through the intersection with one door open.
