Westchester Exceeds HUD Mandate With 790th Affordable Housing Unit

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino announced Tuesday that more than 750 affordable housing units have been developed, a major milestone in the county’s federal agreement with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Under the terms of the 2009 settlement reached between HUD and county government, Westchester is required to spend at least $51.6 million to develop 750 units of affordable housing by the end of this year in 31 mostly white communities.

A 23-year-old Yorktown man is in the Westchester County Jail after state police say he stabbed a 28-year-old male from Mahopac after an overnight fight at PJ’s Bar, located on Route 6 in Somers, escalated. State police from the Somers barracks charged James P. Nardella of Yorktown Heights with assault in the first degree, a Class B felony, on Sunday.

New Taconic Parkway Exit Signs In Westchester Unveiled

New exit signs along the Taconic State Parkway in Westchester County that are numbered based on the distance from the beginning of the parkway to each interchange, rather than in consecutive order, have been unveiled. For example, the exit to State Routes 100 and 133 is now Exit 8, because it is eight miles from the start of the parkway at the traffic circle near the Kensico Dam Plaza in Westchester County, said New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Matthew J.
