What was supposed to be a joyous occasion for a Pound Ridge man and his wife visiting St. Louis, Mo., to meet their new grandchild turned into a nightmare when he was shot and killed Friday during an attempted carjacking, according to multiple reports. Kenneth Spalter, 72, was shot once in the throat around 10 p.m., as he and his 71-year-old wife got out of their vehicle and two men approached and demanded their keys and the car on the 3800 block of Juniata Street, reported the St. Louis Post-Dispatch .
