Joseph was born on March 23, 1936, in New Rochelle to the late Joseph A. and Filomena "Dolly" McDonald. He worked at Ruben H. Donnelly for many years and recently was a devoted care giver to his mother until her death.

New Rochelle High School's Black Culture Club helped more than 100 children of parents who are serving time in prison receive gifts. The project was the brainchild of Rachel Motley, a junior and a member of the club, who has a deep interest in criminal justice reform, according to a release from the City School District of New Rochelle.

Man Sentenced For Westchester Real Estate Scam Recorded On Video

A man has been sentenced to up to four years in state prison after being convicted of fraudulently representing himself as a lawyer in a real estate deal and bilking his New Rochelle victim out of more than $30,000. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino announced on Tuesday that Daniel Stern, 52, of City Island has been sentenced to between two and four years in prison after being convicted of a felony charge of third-degree grand larceny.

New Rochelle High U.S. History, Government Students Visit Philadelphia

Seventy-six juniors from New Rochelle High School studying U.S. history and government recently visited Philadelphia to get a firsthand look at how the government functions. They visited the National Constitution Center, which offers a variety of student-centered interactive activities, such as Roles of the President trivia, Supreme Court cases and legislative laws, among many others.

New Rochelle School District Explores Options For World Language Program

The City School District of New Rochelle recently announced its plans to form a committee that will explore the disparity of language offerings among schools and present to the Board of Education options it will consider for a districtwide world language program. Dr. Magda Parvey, assistant superintendent and chief academic officer, and Juan Mendez, chairman of world languages for the district, will name a committee, which will include approximately 35 to 40 stakeholders -- parents, teachers and administrators.

The New Rochelle Police Department is asking for the public's help to locate a missing teenage girl that hasn't been seen in nearly two weeks. The department has issued a missing person report for 16-year-old Mabel Guiracocha, who was last seen on Centre Avenue wearing a blue NorthFace jacket, black sweatpants and blue Uggs on Thursday, Jan. 5. Guiracocha has been described as a 5-foot, 4-inch, 145 pound Hispanic female with a medium build.
