Kalanagala. Kalangala District has for the third time in less than a year experienced shortage of drugs that cure several illnesses Daily Monitor has learnt that the only available drugs at most health centres in the district are Anti-Retroviral drugs given to people living with HIV/Aids.

THE Ministry of Health yesterday issued a travel advisory to Jamaicans visiting malaria-affected countries following the confirmation of two imported cases here. “The Ministry of Health is urging Jamaicans to be cautious when travelling to areas affected with malaria,” the ministry said, and advised Jamaicans to contact their physician or health centre before travelling to malaria endemic areas and if they develop symptoms such as fever, chills, headache, sweats, fatigue, nausea, and vomiting after returning from affected territories.

137 Pos Kemar Residents Tested Positive For Malaria – Health DG

A total of 137 residents of 17 villages in Pos Kemar, Hulu Perak, tested positive for malaria in a Mass Blood Survey carried out until Wednesday , said Director-General of Health Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. He said the group comprised 72 men and 65 women, and out of the total, 79 were children aged 14 years and below, who were all tested positive of malaria Plasmodium vivax , except for one case of Plasmodium falciparum.
