Report: Bengals named in painkiller abuse lawsuit
Over 1,800 retired football players are suing the National Football League in federal court over claims that 32 teams knowingly abused powerful painkillers and anti-inflammatory prescriptions drugs. The abuse was allegedly an effort to keep players on the field while ignoring guidance from the Drug Enforcement Administration on how to manage controlled substances, according to a report by The Washington Post.

The team placed a non-exclusive franchise tag on their star edge rusher Monday, but that was only the first step in what the team hopes will be a fruitful negotiation. At the NFL scouting combine on Thursday, General Manager Tom Telesco was optimistic about the Chargers’ chances to reach a long-term deal with Ingram – one of several players the team will try to retain.
