SOUTH EL MONTE >> Mayor Pro Tem Gloria Olmos held a lead late Tuesday over longtime City Councilman Joseph Gonzales in the city’s special mayoral election. Olmos, a relative newcomer to the council, received about 60 percent of the vote with four precincts reporting as of 10:40 p.m. Gonzales, a board member for 16 years, trailed with about 40 percent.
