Military cargo plane crashes in Georgia, killing 5

An Air National Guard C-130 cargo plane crashed onto a busy highway moments after taking off from an airport in Georgia on Wednesday, narrowly missing people on the ground but killing at least five National Guard members from Puerto Rico. An orange and black fireball rose into the sky after the plane crashed onto state highway 21, about a mile from the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, around 11:30 a.m., authorities said.

Southwest cancels 40 flights to inspect planes after engine blast

Southwest Airlines had to ground 40 flights scheduled for Sunday as the company scans engines tied to the deadly mid-air accident last week . The cancellations accounted for 1% of the Dallas-based airline's 4,000 flights scheduled, and wasn't part of a Federal Aviation Administration directive late last week, according to Southwest.

Navy: Training jet flew too low _ for thrills _ before crash

The Navy is citing pilot error for a military training jet crash in Tennessee that killed the two aboard, saying it was being flown for thrills and too low. Navy officials said in a report the T-45C Goshawk was flying below allowable altitudes last October when it plunged into a forest near Tellico Plains.

All 6 victims identified in Scottsdale TPC plane crash

The Scottsdale Police Department identified those killed as Erik Valente, 26; James Louis Pedroza, 28; Mariah Sunshine Coogan, 23; Anand Anil Patel, 28; Helena Lagos, 22; and Iris Carolina Rodriguez Garcia, 23. Valente was certified as an airline transport pilot, most recently on March 15, according to FAA records. He was also certified as a flight instructor.
