GOP Rep. Blasts Kaepernick’s Activism: ‘Sympathetic to ISIS’

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick's recent "activism" is "sympathetic to ISIS," according to Rep. Steve King During an interview earlier this week on the conservative NewsmaxTV's "America Talks Live," King speculated that Kaepernick's "Islamic" fiancA e might have inspired his recent protests. Kaepernick already made headlines this football season with his refusal to stand during the national anthem in protest of oppression of blacks in the U.S. His own protest has inspired other players on other teams to do the same.

HANGZHOU, China - President Barack Obama Monday acknowledged that for some people it is a "tough thing" to see Colin Kaepernick kneel instead of stand for the American flag and national anthem, but defended the NFL quarterback, saying he was "exercising his constitutional right to make a statement." The flag and anthem have so much meaning for many men and women in uniform and others who have defended the country that the style of Kaepernick's protest may make it difficult for them to "hear what his deeper concerns are," Obama said.

Defiant, and determined to be a conduit for U.S. change, Colin Kaepernick plans to sit through the national anthem for as long as he feels is appropriate and until he sees significant progress in America - specifically when it comes to race relations. He knows he could be cut by San Francisco for this stand.
