Police Arrest ‘Irate,’ ‘Combative’ Drunk Driver At Tarrytown Stop & Shop

A strange scene unfolded at the Stop & Shop parking lot in Tarrytown last week that led to a Rockland man getting charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content nearly three times the legal limit. Shortly before 10 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, police were dispatched to the Stop & Shop location on White Plains Road in Tarrytown, after a caller reported that he was being following by a driver who subsequently struck him when he attempted to park at the grocery store.

Tarrytown Sees Increase In Phone Scams, Police Warn

The department has recently been receiving complaints from some residents about receiving calls from individuals stating that they were the winning recipient of a sweepstakes, usually Publishing Clearing House. The individuals calling will ask residents to send them money, purchase gifts cards or other means of "paying" up front to receive a prize, police said.
