Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow Could See Black Ice, Snow Before Midweek Warmup

The frigid conditions that have gripped the area will soon give way to much warmer temperatures starting Wednesday, but the Lower Hudson Valley has a bit more wintry day in store beforehand. Temperatures well below freezing have resulted in the redevelopment of areas of black ice, as any melted snow and slush refreeze Monday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Astorino Blames Cuomo For Indian Point Closure, Saying ‘The Joke’s On Us’

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino said the closing of Indian Point in Buchanan is typical behavior from Governor Andrew Cuomo. Astorino, who unsuccessfully challenged Cuomo in 2014, held a press conference in Tarrytown at the Double Tree on Monday following Entergy's press conference of its own at the hotel to confirm it was closing the nuclear power plant in 2020 and 2021.

Entergy Says Economics Behind Indian Point Closure

That was the reason given by Entergy, which owns the Buchanan-based power plant, when it officially confirmed plans to close the nuclear power plant in 2020-2021 at a press conference in Tarrytown Monday afternoon. Bill Mohl, president of Entergy Wholesale Commodities said the company has spent more than $200 million and 10 years on a license renewal for Indian Point.
