Students in the DSC’s Occupational Therapy Assistant program will “lead older drivers through a 12-point checklist with their vehicle,” said OTA Academic Clinical Coordinator Shirish Lala in a release. “It’s a great opportunity for our students to work in the community, and each assessment concludes with recommendations for car adjustments and adaptations that could make the individual’s cars fit better or enhance their safety.” CarFit is free and takes place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 8, at the Florida Lutheran Retirement Center-Good Samaritan Society on 450 N. McDonald Ave. in DeLand.
