A series of cosmic collisions may have formed multiple tiny moons that combined to create the bigger moon we see today. According to the existing hypothesis, the moon has formed some 4.5 billion years ago after a catastrophe collision between Earth and a Mars-sized planet.

Alibaba to buy China mall operator in $2.6 bn plan

Chinese e-commerce titan Alibaba will take control of domestic department store Intime through a $2.6 billion privatisation scheme, the companies said Tuesday, sending shares of the mall operator surging. Alibaba and Intime founder Shen Guojun have together offered to pay HK$10 per share to buy the shares they do not already own of the Hong Kong-listed chain.

SKT to collaborate with US chipmaker Nvidia on autonomous cars

South Korea’s leading mobile carrier SK Telecom said Tuesday it has agreed to collaborate with leading US-based graphic chip maker Nvidia for the development of new platform technologies for autonomous vehicles. “We will merge Nvidia’s autonomous driving technology with SK Telecom’s ‘T Map’ navigation program and SK C&C’s cloud computing technology to develop our own self-driving platform technology,” a SKT spokesperson told The Korea Herald.
