Google search may soon be unblocked in Mainland China

Seven years after Google pulled its search engine out of mainland China over a disagreement on censorship directives, the information giant is negotiating with Beijing to make its comeback to the world’s biggest internet market. Google is currently not available in the country, which boasts 721 million web users, and locals can only access to the service by using VPNs.

Security flaw hits popular websites

Security firm Cloudflare disclosed late Thursday that a long-running bug in its security systems may have leaked information, including potentially personal information, from thousands of sites including Uber, Fitbit and OK Cupid. The problem was first uncovered by Google security expert Tavis Ormandy, who let Cloudflare know about the issue on Feb. 18. But the service had been leaking information for months in a way that allowed search engines to pick it up, according to Cloudflare.

An interesting email doing the rounds – Whitehouse vs Google

My first thought was to dfump this as a scam, especiallially considering the sites being mentioned but all the links do go back to whitehouse.gov and .gov sites are tightly controled. Ironically if it was truely sent via the whitehouse then they are trying to ban googles right to put or remove whatever media they want to on their own site and is itself a violation of the USA constitution.

Google Responds to Reports of Unexpected Account Sign-Outs

Google has responded to multiple reports of users being unexpectedly logged out of their Google accounts, in order to assuage fears that the logouts were security related. The unexpected sign-outs began on Thursday night and continued through Friday, affecting multiple services including Gmail, Chromecast, YouTube, and Google Play.
