New lead in the search for life

This illustration provided by NASA/JPL-Caltech shows an artist’s conception of what the TRAPPIST-1 planetary system may look like, based on available data about their diameters, masses and distances from the host star. The planets circle tightly around a dim dwarf star called Trappist-1, barely the size of Jupiter.

Scientists stunned by discovery high in the Eartha s atmosphere

A major new study has come to a surprising conclusion about what the sun’s fierce solar storms are doing to our atmosphere. Researchers in Denmark have just made a big discovery high up in the atmosphere above us: a sign that solar storms are wreaking havoc, stripping out massive quantities of electrons, even though scientists had long believed solar storms cause an excess of electrons.

NASA almost had a disaster on its hands recently in space, but fortunately, everyone can breathe a sigh of relief. NASA’s MAVEN spacecraft is a vital instrument orbiting Mars, but it had to make a sudden maneuver to avoid smashing into Mars’ moon Phobos recently, NASA said in a statement.

Studying TRAPPIST-1 With James Webb Space Telescope

With the discovery of seven earth-sized planets around the TRAPPIST-1 star 40 light years away, astronomers are looking to the upcoming James Webb Space Telescope to help us find out if any of these planets could possibly support life. “If these planets have atmospheres, the James Webb Space Telescope will be the key to unlocking their secrets,” said Doug Hudgins, Exoplanet Program Scientist at NASA Headquarters in Washington.

Digi International Enabling IoT in Space

Slightly after noontime on Monday, at an altitude of approximately 250 miles, the ISS will release a TechEdSat 5 , a cuboid-shaped device, approximately the size of a fire extinguisher. After a 30-minute time-period, Digi XBee modules, taking the place of wired connections, will begin to operate as the wireless “data-crossroads” between key components of the satellite.
