Newly found planets tidally locked to star, have short orbits10 min ago
Washington, Feb 23 The seven newly discovered Earth-sized planets in the ultra cool dwarf star system may only face one way towards their sun, similar to the Earth’s moon, and orbit very close to it, scientists have found. Astronomers, using NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope, announced the discovery of the first known system of seven Earth-sized planets around a single star – located a mere 40 light years away – that could have liquid water, and possibly host alien life.

Google doodle pats NASA’s back for exoplanet discovery
Scientists from NASA have discovered seven exoplanets beyond our solar system revolving around a small, cold star – which points to the possibility of liquid water and life. The announcement was made yesterday by scientists from the space organisation and is being seen as one of the biggest announcements made by it yet.
Exoplanet Discovery: Google Posts Special Logo
Google’s home page has a rare late day Doodle, special logo, this one is for the NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope finding the first known system of seven Earth-size planets around a single star. NASA said “three of these planets are firmly located in the habitable zone, the area around the parent star where a rocky planet is most likely to have liquid water.”
An inside look at the differences between life at NASA and SpaceX
When Elon Musk sets his sights on an industry, he does so with purpose and with the intention of completely turning said industry on its head. While most people are readily familiar with Musk’s efforts at Tesla, the groundbreaking work being done by SpaceX, Musk’s other company, has only recently started to attract attention from the mainstream.
