Buffalo’s 6-3 loss to the Flyers keeps the team locked in at 66 points, which is now 7 points behind the New York Islanders, who are holding onto the second and final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Canadiens Julien happy to coach his 1,000 games where his career started

Claude Julien joined the Montreal Canadiens just in time to reach a major milestone by coaching his 1,000th career NHL game. The 14-year veteran was set to hit the milestone when the Canadiens hosted to the New York Islanders on Thursday night, only three games after he was brought back for a second stint in Montreal last week after spending 10 years behind the Boston Bruins bench.

Maple Leafs adding four to Legends Row

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced four additions to their monuments display outside Air Canada Centre on Saturday evening with Wendel Clark, Red Kelly, Frank Mahovlich and Charlie Conacher completing a set of 14 franchise greats from the first 100 years of the organization. “But what we’ve said is we’d be thrilled to death to have to get some architects down there to Legends Row to figure out a way to extend the bench,” said Shanahan during the first intermission of a tilt between the Leafs and Ottawa Senators.

Mitch Marner will not play for Maple Leafs this weekend

The Toronto Maple Leafs will be without star rookie Mitch Marner for both of their games this weekend, coach Mike Babcock announced on Saturday. Marner was listed as ” day-to-day ” with an apparent shoulder injury on Friday after he had to exit Wednesday’s game against Columbus after crashing into the boards.

Senators hope Stone anchors playoff run

The Ottawa Senators forward seems to thrive later in the season when games become more important and teams start focusing on making their run to the playoffs. Stone scored the winning goal in Thursday night’s 3-2 victory over Dallas and has three goals and two assists since the all-star break.
