Minnesota Football: Spring Position Previews – Running Backs

Spring football under new head coach P.J. Fleck opened up on Tuesday with the team’s first spring practice, and we’ll be previewing each position group in the weeks leading up to the spring game at TCF Bank Stadium on Saturday, April 15. We turn our attention now to the position group almost certain to have the least amount of drama this spring : Running back. Even with a new offensive coordinator in Kirk Ciarrocca, there won’t be a dramatic difference in how the Gophers run the football.

Murphy, Minnesota outlast Michigan, 83-78

Jordan Murphy had 16 points and 15 rebounds and Eric Curry scored all 12 of his points in the second half to lift Minnesota to its fifth straight victory, 83-78 in overtime over Michigan on Sunday night. Reggie Lynch added 11 points and eight rebounds while battling foul trouble for most of the night for the Golden Gophers , who overcame a furious rally from Michigan to inch closer to an NCAA tournament bid.

Minnesota Hockey: Gophers Sweep Big Ten Three Stars

The Gopher Hockey team swept all three Big Ten Stars of the Week awards after winning the Mariucci Classic last weekend. Goalie Eric Schierhorn was named the #1 star, captain Justin Kloos was named the #2 star, and sophomore Brent Gates, Jr. was named the #3 star of the week.
