Razorbacks counting on depth as edge against conference’s best

The SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships are being held in Nashville, Tenn., for the first time but the Arkansas Razorbacks’ men’s team hopes the meet has a familiar result. The Razorbacks will be going for their 22nd SEC indoor title in 26 tries since joining the conference for the 1992 season when they compete today and Saturday at Vanderbilt University’s facility.

Arkansas women understand league teams want their title

It’s been three years since the Arkansas Razorbacks women’s cross country and track and field teams went to an SEC meet and didn’t win the championship. The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville has won eight consecutive SEC titles since finishing third behind the University of Florida and Texas A&M University at the 2014 indoor track meet.

Coach Frank Martin’s South Carolina Gamecocks, ranked 21st and 19th in the Associated Press and Coaches polls, and identically sharing SEC first place at 20-5 overall and 10-2 in the SEC with Kentucky and Florida going into Tuesday night before Tennessee hosted Kentucky and Florida visited Auburn, host the Razorbacks at 5:30 p.m. on the SEC Network at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, S.C. “This time of year I keep saying the games get bigger,” Arkansas coach Mike Anderson said.

The Vanderbilt Commodores got a chance at redemption Saturday, finding themselves in the same situation a game after blowing a 15-point lead in the second half. Parents of UGA’s Blankenship call son not being awarded scholarship – an injustice’

On the first day of spring semester classes at Georgia, the parents of Bulldogs walk-on kicker Rodrigo Blankenship issued a statement Thursday going public with why they feel like coach Kirby Smart should have put their son on scholarship after his redshirt freshman season. “Our son being refused a scholarship is an injustice to him as well as a crushing hardship for his family,” Ken and Izabel Blankenship said in an email to some media outlets, including OnlineAthens.com.
