Last Tuesday evening Aug. 22, Sheryl and Mike Robertson held a homecoming party for their son, U.S. Navy Fire Controlman First Class Zachary "Zak" Robertson. The US and South Korea have staged a joint show of force over the Korean Peninsula, two days after North Korea fired a missile over Japan. Britain's leading shipbuilding bosses are scheduled to meet with the ruling Conservative party in September to be briefed on the broad outline for a new class of light frigates for the Royal Navy. Babcock International, BAE Systems, BMT Defence Services and a small design consultancy known as Stellar Systems are expected to submit designs for the Type 31 light frigate program, and it is believed that London wants the first of the vessels to be operational in time to replace the Type 23 frigate HMS Argyll which is scheduled for decommissioning in 2023.
The Coast Guard suspended their search, Tuesday, for two missing fishermen overdue in Lake Erie since Monday after rescuing one. Hundreds gathered at a memorial service Sunday for nine Marine Corps aviators who were killed when their New York-based transport plane crashed in Mississippi last month. A total of 15 Marines and a sailor died July 10 when a C-130 transport plane crashed on July 10. The victims included nine crewmembers who served in a Marine Forces Reserve transport squadron based at Stewart Air National Guard base in Newburgh in New York's Hudson Valley.
