Blue Angels take to the skies at Maine Air Show

The Great State of Maine Air Show returned to the former Brunswick Naval Air Station with the Navy Blue Angels and other top flying acts on Saturday. Organizers expect 40,000 to 50,000 spectators over two days to watch the Navy flight demonstration team, the U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight and the U.S. Special Operations Command parachute team, along with a host of other military and civilian pilots.

9 victims of Marine plane crash being honored at NY air base

Nine Marine Corps aviators who were killed when their New York-based transport plane crashed in Mississippi last month will be honored during a memorial service at their former air base. The victims of the July 10 crash of the C-130 include nine crewmembers who served in a Marine Forces Reserve transport squadron based at Stewart Air National Guard base in Newburgh in New York's Hudson Valley.

DOD to invest $17M on laser weapons research in New Mexico

The Department of Defense is investing $17 million in directed energy laser weapons, Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., announced at the Boeing facility in Albuquerque, N.M., on Wednesday. "With our state's unique expertise in directed energy work, this funding will jump start the deployment of this critical technology and bring more high-paying jobs to the state," said Heinrich , a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Us B-1 bombers ready if called upon

Shortly after tweeting the US military was "locked and loaded" should North Korea "act unwisely," President Donald Trump returned to Twitter on Friday to emphasize his point by retweeting images of US B-1 bombers currently stationed in Guam. Featuring a series of photos depicting B-1B Lancers deployed to the US territory, the tweet from US Pacific Command said: "B-1B Lancer #bombers on Guam stand ready to fulfill USFK's #FightTonight mission if called upon to do so."

Major military exercise carried out at Faslane naval base with UK and US forces

Military personnel from the UK and US have co-ordinated a major exercise from a Scottish naval base, training battle staff for Britain's new aircraft carrier. They used HM Naval Base Clyde, known as Faslane, as their headquarters to co-ordinate the joint US/UK Exercise Saxon Warrior, involving a US carrier group and other vessels.
