Forensic officers are searching a caravan site three miles from where a newlywed policeman died in the line of duty after being dragged by a vehicle as he responded to reports of a burglary.

PC Andrew Harper, who was due to go on honeymoon next week, was killed late on Thursday evening when he was struck by a vehicle after leaving his car at the crossroads on the A4 near Sulhamstead village, Berkshire.

The Welsh seaside town of Porthcawl is planning to install anti-sex public toilets that would spray occupants with water and sound an alarm.

Violent movement sensors would automatically open the doors and sound high-pitched alarms, with fine water jets soaking the interior. Weight-sensitive floors would ensure only one user could be in a cubicle at a time, to safeguard against “inappropriate sexual activity and vandalism”.

PC Andrew Harper of Thames Valley police was responding to reports of a burglary with a crewmate when he was dragged along the road by a vehicle after leaving his car at a crossroads on the A4 near Sulhamstead at 11.30pm on Thursday.

A British ski instructor has been jailed for 10 years for raping a woman and physically assaulting her male friend in Australia.

Matthew James Williams, 29, attacked the pair on a street in Jindabyne, south of Canberra and near the border between New South Wales and Victoria, in July 2018. He had followed the woman and her 25-year-old companion after they left a pub to walk home.

Gambian woman, 46, has no access to possessions after being evicted without notice

An asylum seeker with an active case has been locked out of her Home Office accommodation in west London by a government contractor who told her: “When you’re asked to leave this country you have to leave.”

The woman, 46, who fled her country in west Africa after refusing to perform FGM on young girls, has an active asylum claim. She said her life will be at risk if she is forced to return to Gambia where FGM is prevalent because she defied her community by opposing the practice.

The autopsy of Nora Quoirin, the 15-year-old who went missing in the Malaysian jungle, has concluded that she likely died of starvation and stress after spending seven days in the jungle.

Speaking outside the police headquarters in Seremban, Negri Sembilan police chief Mohammad Mat Yusop said Nora had died “two to three days ago” from internal bleeding in her intestine, possibly caused by “prolonged starvation or stress”.
