Hazzard said NSW is supporting the Victorian government push to change the definition of fully vaccinated in Australia from two doses to three.

But he says there are some issues to be ironed out before that change can be made. He doesn’t know what issues, he says, because he is not a part of national cabinet.

I understand that most of these things require a range of medical expert input. In fact, they all require a range of medical expert input, and I think when you’ve got a committee of a large number of people, all giving their input, sometimes it takes a while to get there. Sometimes it is easier being a minister, I’ve got to say, than being on a committee.

So for everybody who is eligible, please go and get the booster as quickly as possible.

In New South Wales, four people have been rescued after a ute was swept into a flooded creek in the Hunter Valley last night.

Emergency services were called to Wells Gully Road at McCulleys Gap late last night, after the ute was swept off the spillway into Sandy Creek. A 49-year-old man, a 16-year-old boy, and two girls aged 14 were forced to climb on to the roof of the car after it began to sink in strongly flowing flood waters.

He has his own philosophy if he thinks like that ... he’s the most healthiest guy, he takes care of his life ... he’s playing tennis and he wants to stay. And I know that he’s doing everything to stay healthy to take care of his body, so ... if he’s not, he doesn’t want to, that’s his choice.

So, what’s the problem? You know, the vaccination – the vaccination, it’s not that I’m against it of course I’m not ... it’s not the point. If he’s healthy, his PCR is negative, why he cannot play?

Dangerous surf and abnormally high tides have closed popular beaches as Tropical Cyclone Seth dominates off Australia’s eastern coast.

Forecasters say heavy rain may lash south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales this week, with Seth churning about 700km to the north-east of Brisbane on Sunday afternoon.

The south-eastern cities will enjoy temperatures just shy of 30C, while Queenslanders should prepare for showers. Perth is set for a 40C scorcher and Darwin may be in for a storm.

You can express a view in this country without dragging around gallows and noose and calling for premiers to be hanged. I condemn without reservation, without qualification, the violent threats being made here, even if the prime minister won’t.

We live in a society, and that means we have obligations to each other to try to tame this virus, to look out for each other, to protect each other, to try to keep each other safe and what the prime minister is trying to do is trying to divide us, trying to diminish that collective effort and undermine all of the good and all of the progress that Australians have made together. He does that with this dangerous dog whistling double-speak that we see from him. He does it by claiming credit for high vaccination rates without taking responsibility for the measures that are necessary to get those rates up.

Bureau of Meteorology issued severe thunderstorm warning for much of the NSW coastline with sustained hail falling on western Sydney

Residents in greater Sydney bunkered down after being warned of potential “tornado activity” on Thursday afternoon and while the worst fears didn’t eventuate the city was hit by a series of thunderstorms that caused flash flooding, traffic accidents and power outages.

The severe storms also ripped the roof off a Westfield shopping centre at Mount Druitt which resulted in water gushing into stores and the mall before distressed shoppers were evacuated. There were no reports of serious injuries.

Anyone near the Traralgon Creek was being told early on Friday afternoon to evacuate now.

Andrew Grech, a partner at Gordon Legal, is on the ABC now responding to the federal court judgment on the robodebt class action.

I think for many people, there’s been a lack of accountability, both of the ministers involved and senior public servants involved.

We think that it’s important that, through the proper parliamentary processes and, if necessary, through a royal commission, that those questions be answered for people, so that they can actually have far more closure on all those issues.

An evacuation order has been issued for Traralgon due to wild weather which has caused widespread flooding in Gippsland, damaged homes, left almost 200,000 homes without power and prompted almost 4,000 calls to the State Emergency service overnight.

About 220 low-lying properties in Traralgon, 160km east of Melbourne, are under direct threat of inundation from Traralgon Creek, and an evacuation centre has been set up in the basketball stadium, with residents urged to leave now.
