The owner and chief executive officer of an armored vehicle company was sentenced today to 70 months in prison for his role in orchestrating a scheme to defraud the United States by providing the U.S. Department of Defense with armored gun trucks that did not meet ballistic and blast protection requirements set out in the company's contracts with the United States.

According to the Grand Rapids Police Department, following a three-week manhunt for Norman Dennis Muhammad Jr., who was wanted for a parole absconding warrant and for questioning in the double murder of Germaine Brown and King Talbert on Jan. 17, Muhammad was captured on Feb. 9 at an apartment complex in the 4700 block of South Breton Court SE in Kentwood. Gun Control Isn’t the Answer

As usual, it seemed to come out of nowhere. And, as usual, it didn't. The murderer who took the lives of 17 people at a high school in Parkland, Fla., was on everybody's radar, from the school authorities to the local police to the FBI, which failed to follow its own protocols when a person close to the future killer called to warn the bureau that he was contemplating a school massacre.

The FBI said Friday that it failed to follow "protocols" when it received a tip earlier this year about the teenager accused of killing 17 in a mass shooting at a South Florida high school. In January, person close to the accused shooter, 19-year old Nikolas Cruz, called the FBI's public tipline and raised concerns about his gun ownership, desire to kill and warned of a possible school shooting.
