Ben Krupinski, a noted homebuilder on the East End, was killed Saturday after his plane crashed into the ocean off an East Hampton beach. Krupinski, who owned an air charter service based at East Hampton Airport, was flying home with his wife Bonnie Bistrian Krupinski in his Piper PA31 Navajo, when the craft plunged into the water.

While this training is required by the Federal Aviation Administration every three years, it's also a chance to bring together first responders from across the area to learn how to respond together.
