The Hermon Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded $62,381 in federal funding to purchase 10 pieces of self-contained breathing apparatus for firefighters. The funding was allocated through the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program and announced Thursday by U.S. senators Charles E. Schumer, D-NY, and Kirsten E. Gillibrand, D-NY.
