Ailing Mariner Medevaced off Alaska

An ailing crewmember aboard the fishing vessel Seafreeze Alaska was medevaced approximately 195 miles north of Cold Bay, Alaska, Thursday. A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew, deployed aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Midgett, hoisted the 21-year-old man, who reportedly lost consciousness for 45 minutes, and transferred him to awaiting Guardian Flight emergency medical personnel in Cold Bay.

Search Continues But Hope Fades For Man Missing In The Sound Off Bridgeport

Even as Bridgeport Police Chief Armando Perez said there was little hope that a man who fell from a raft Sunday into Long Island Sound would be found alive, the search for him continued Monday afternoon, according to the Connecticut Post. U.S. Coast Guard crews were out on the water in the search for Shigemune Mori, 32, who was last seen Sunday in the water with no life jacket, the Post said.

Coast Guard: Oil in Beaufort hospital, marina spills similar

The U.S. Coast Guard says oil found in the water at the Lady's Island Marina in Beaufort is similar to the type of oil that recently leaked from Beaufort Memorial Hospital into the Beaufort River. Chief Warrant Officer Dan Ferrell tells The Island Packet of Hilton Head that the oil that stained the hulls of boats and blackened the reeds on Factory Creek's banks has similar characteristics to the hospital's Sunday spill, but authorities are currently investigating them as separate incidents.

Boston Harbor Cruises says the captain of a cruise ship that ran aground in Boston Harbor while hosting a wedding reception on board has been suspended without pay. General manager Alison Nolan says the captain, who wasn't identified, was suspended following the outcome of an internal investigation by Boston Harbor Cruises and findings by the U.S. Coast Guard.

The captain of a cruise ship that ran aground in Boston Harbor Saturday night while a wedding reception was being held on board has been suspended without pay, Boston Harbor Cruises said Tuesday. "At this time, the Captain has been suspended without pay pending the findings of both the Coast Guard and our internal investigations," Alison Nolan, general manager of the company, said in a statement.
