A recount has been scheduled in the Republican primary race for Congressional District 1, Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap announced June 22. Candidate Ande Allen Smith of North Yarmouth submitted his formal request for the recount Friday, June 17, based upon the unofficial preliminary results of the election, which showed a difference of 55 votes between Smith and candidate Mark I. Holbrook of Brunswick. The recount is scheduled to begin Tuesday, June 28, at 9 a.m. in the Florian Room of the Maine Department of Public Safety Building, 45 Commerce Drive, Augusta.
