Matthews, Thrush Hype What a ‘Consolation Prize’ a Trump Investigation Would Be for Clintons

On Tuesday's Hardball , MSNBC's Chris Matthews and New York Times White House correspondent Glenn Thrush happily speculated that the idea of the Trump administration being hit by a special prosecutor would be "one of the richest ironies and perhaps the biggest consolation prize for the Clintons" following the 1990s and 2016. Matthews turned to Thrush by touting Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's plea for the Justice Department to investigate the Trump White House but not "Jeff Sessions doing it so you have one of these recusal kinda things."

Giuliani says Trump dropped birther theory

Rudy Giuliani said Thursday that Donald Trump does believe President Barack Obama was born in the United States, seeking to end criticism of the Republican presidential nominee for his ongoing refusal to put the issue to rest. Appearing on MSNBC's "Hardball with Chris Matthews," the former New York City mayor was asked whether Trump still believes the incendiary claims about Obama's citizenship that, in part, fueled his entrance into politics.
