Minnesota’s two largest export markets push for NAFTA renewal

Minnesota's two largest export markets are touting the benefits of the North American Free Trade Agreement, which may be headed for a renewal in Washington as early as next month. Canadian Consul General Paul Connors and Mexican Consul Gerardo Guerrero, who spoke Tuesday at a Minnesota Chamber of Commerce breakfast, have been on the road pitching the value of NAFTA to Minnesota factories, farmers and workers.

Electrolux workers, officials talk next steps

There was a mixture of disappointment and optimism in a meeting between state and local officials, community and union leaders and Electrolux employees on Saturday afternoon at St. Cloud City Hall. Electrolux announced Jan. 30 it will end production at the St. Cloud facility by 2020, eliminating 900 jobs at the plant, which manufacturers freezers.

Governor’s Fishing Opener at St. Cloud

As more 500,000 Minnesotans gear up to go fishing this weekend, Gov. Mark Dayton is getting ready to host Minnesota's 70th Annual Governor's Fishing Opener on the Mississippi River in St. Cloud. Headquartered at St. Cloud River's Edge Convention Center, the weekend's events will feature fishing, family fun activities, and a community picnic in downtown St. Cloud on Lake George featuring live music, local craft beer gardens, and local food.
