U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz's office would like to know why work that should be going to Red River Army Depot is going elsewhere. "Language has been put into the National Defense Authorization Act for FY19 to investigate this and figure out why missions are going other places than where they are supposed to," a Cruz spokesman said.
Red River Army Depot is expected to reduce its workforce by 600 jobs beginning in May because of decreasing workload requirements, according to a press release. The press release, posted Thursday on Facebook, cites "decreasing workload requirements" as the reason for the reduction "to contractor, temporary and term workforce."
U.S. Sen. John Boozman, R-Ark., described the lifting of the hiring freeze for federal employees by President Donald Trump as good news for the region since the Red River Army Depot drives the economic wheels. Boozman toured the region, including RRAD.
