The California Coastal Commission is set to consider today whether to approve Humboldt County's request to open up unused coastal lands around Humboldt Bay to new industries - including cannabis. But county Planning and Building Department Director John Ford said there are several steps and approvals that must take place before a cannabis business could even be considered to open in these areas.
