Spaceport Alabama? Not yet, but new authority could seek one

The new Alabama Space Authority took its first steps Tuesday as members met around Wernher von Braun's conference table in Huntsville to push for more aerospace activity and jobs in a state where the industry is surging.

Holiday travel chaos ahead after Atlanta airport outage

Thousands of people were stranded Monday morning at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, where more than 1,000 flights were grounded just days before the start of the Christmas travel rush. A sudden power outage that Georgia Power said was caused by a fire in an underground electrical facility brought the airport to a standstill Sunday about 1 p.m. All outgoing flights were halted, and arriving planes were held on the ground at their point of departure.

Hundreds of flights were delayed or canceled at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Sunday as a power outage left passengers at the world's busiest airport stranded in darkened terminals or in aircraft idling on tarmacs. The partial shutdown at the start of one of the busiest travel weeks of the year forced the Federal Aviation Administration to hold back flights bound for Atlanta.

Santa Cruz County flight path change slated for August, said congressman

SANTA CRUZ >> After millions of jet noise complaints were filed since March 2015 by Santa Cruz County and Bay Area residents, a controversial flight path over Soquel, Capitola and the Summit may be returning to its original ground track over Santa Cruz's Westside and the San Lorenzo Valley ridgeline as early as August 2018. Rep. Jimmy Panetta announced the timeline at a public Save Our Skies Santa Cruz County meeting Dec. 2, where he appeared with Santa Cruz County Supervisor John Leopold, who confirmed that Panetta made the statement.

Pilatus jet development far exceeded planned costs – NZZ interview

Swiss plane maker Pilatus's development costs of "well over 500 million Swiss francs" far exceeded the original budget for the company's first business jet, Chairman Oscar Schwenk told the Neue Zuercher Zeitung in an article published on Saturday. Delta A320 at New York on Dec 6th 2017, tail strike

A Delta Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration N340NW performing flight DL-886 from Atlanta,GA to New York La Guardia,NY , landed on La Guardia Airport's runway 22, vacated the runway and taxied to the gate. The FAA reported that subsequently a tail strike was reported, the damage is unknown.
