Senate Democrats call for extraordinary session on King veterans home funding

Senate Democrats are calling on Republican leaders to schedule an extraordinary session of the legislature to approve roughly $18.5 million in repairs and upgrades at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, just one day before the Joint Legislative Audit Committee will meet to discuss problems uncovered by a Capital Times investigation of the facility. The improvements were all detailed in the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs 2015-17 budget request, but were denied by Republicans on the Joint Finance Committee.
