Defense chief ‘shocked’ by poor state of US combat readiness

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis declared Monday that he was "shocked" upon his return to the Pentagon by the poor state of the U.S. military's readiness for combat. He put most of the blame on Congress for its inability to approve budgets on time or repeal a law that strictly limits defense spending.

USAF Selects the Northrop APG-83 SABR for F-16 AESA Radar Upgrade

The U.S. Air Force selected Northrop Grumman Corporation's APG-83 Scalable Agile Beam Radar as the active electronically scanned array for its F-16 radar upgrade. Fire department, police, Coast Guard respond to sinking boat off Watch Hill Reef

Westerly - The Watch Hill Fire Department on Thursday joined the U.S. Coast Guard, Westerly police and a fishing trawler from Stonington to aid two boaters whose boat was taking on water in Block Island Sound. The two passengers of the 18-foot center console were not injured and the boat was eventually towed from its location near Watch Hill Reef by Sea Tow to Barn Island boat ramp, according to a statement from Watch Hill Fire Department Chief Robert Peacock.
