Testimony from WWII probe of Tribune could go public

A Maryland historian is a step closer in his fight for the release of decades-old grand jury testimony involving a story the Chicago Tribune published during the World War II Battle of Midway, the newspaper reported. The story, published June 7, 1942, said the U.S. Navy obtained advance knowledge of the Japanese fleet's plans.

Albany VA director named

D. Scott Guermonprez , who has led the Stratton VA Medical Center in an interim capacity since the departure of Linda Weiss in November, has been named the health center's director. Guermonprez, a retired Air Force colonel with 30 years of military service, will oversee medical services at the Albany hospital and its 11 community-based outpatient clinics, which provide care to more than 42,000 veterans in eastern New York, western Massachusetts and Vermont.

North Korea rips US bomber flyover as bluff

North Korea on Wednesday scoffed at the US Air Force's show of force a day earlier, saying Washington was "bluffing" and "blustering" with the flyover of B-1 bombers. "They are bluffing that B-1Bs are enough for fighting an all-out nuclear war," said a statement from Pyongyang's Korean Central News Agency.
