Case info received by county judge

The group East Liverpool Citizens Against Traffic Cameras and the city of East Liverpool both provided Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Judge C. Ashley Pike with additional information about their arguments before he makes a decision in the civil case. Both attorneys, Charles Payne for the city and Mark Hanni for the citizens group, on Thursday got a chance to talk about the remaining issues in the case, which mainly revolve around whether or not the citizens group should have filed a referendum or an initiative petition to try to repeal the use of traffic cameras.

Gang member faces second round of drug charges

A reputed Cleveland gang member will be tried again as an adult on drug charges after his first conviction was overturned because local officials failed to file the charges in juvenile court. Visiting Juvenile Court Judge John Hoffman Jr. ruled Nov. 1 there was enough evidence for him to determine that Nathaniel Baker should be tried as an adult on drug charges and not as a juvenile, setting the stage for Baker to be go on trial a second time in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.
