Forget About “Money Earnin’ Mount Vernon”, Because The City Has The Highest Unemployment Rate In The Hudson Valley

ALBANY – The City of Mount Vernon had the highest rate of unemployment in the Hudson Valley in the month of March, at 9.4 percent, followed by the City of Newburgh, at 8.6 percent, and the City of Poughkeepsie, at 8.5 percent.

The towns of Monroe and Haverstraw each had 8.3 percent rates of unemployment. City of Yonkers had a 7.6 percent rate of joblessness.

The City of White Plains had the lowest rate in the region at 4.9 percent, followed by the Town of Mamaroneck, at 5.0 percent, and the Village of Harrison, Town of Ramapo and Town of Greenburgh, each at 5.1 percent.

The state labor department reported the regional rate of joblessness was 6.0 percent. Full regional unemployment rates here.
