Maverick dancer Polunin seeks to be David Beckham of ballet
Ukrainian ballet dancer Sergei Polunin poses for photographs following an interview with the Associated Press in a central London hotel, Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, ahead of the documentary premiere, Dancer, later this week. Polunin became the Royal ballet’s youngest ever principal, and the documentary examines the life and career of the ballet dancer from his early days in the Ukraine, to his performances in the United Kingdom, Russia and America.

A very good year
In 2016, a year that was promising and trailblazing for T&T writers, this felt like less of a coincidence and more of a portent of powerful, locally-made success in storytelling. T&T writers have dominated the international awards field, most notably with Vahni Capildeo’s win of the 2016 Forward Prize for Poetry for her collection, Measures of Expatriation.
