NFL Draft 2017 Profile: Wide Receiver John Ross

Over the next few months, we’ll be looking at prospects in the upcoming 2017 NFL Draft from a decidedly Cowboys point of view. Taking the Cowboys current personnel, draft position, scheme, and needs into consideration; defensive line, linebacker, defensive backs, as well as complementary offensive pieces at wide receiver, tight end, and perhaps right tackle, we hope to profile the majority of the potential prospects that could realistically end up as Cowboys within the first two rounds.

Jason Witten isn’t sure how much longer he’ll be playing

Cowboys tight end Jason Witten is entering the final year of his current contract, and in a Super Bowl Radio Row appearance he admitted he’s not sure how much longer he’ll be playing. “I think at this point you just go into it and look at it one year at a time,” Witten said, per the Dallas Morning News.

Clutch Rodgers leads Packers past rallying Cowboys, 34-31

Rodgers threw a 36-yard pass to a toe-dragging Jared Cook on the sideline, and Mason Crosby kicked a 51-yard field goal as time expired, sending the Packers to the NFC championship game with their eighth straight win while thwarting a huge Dallas rally in a 34-31 victory in the divisional round of the playoffs Sunday. After throwing a touchdown pass in Monday’s 42-21 win over the Detroit Lions , Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant is apparently ready to create a different kind of quarterback controversy for the team. According to Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News , Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Bryant tried to attend the team’s quarterback meeting and is Bryant’s first career NFL pass was a 10-yard touchdown to tight end Jason Witten that gave the Cowboys a 35-21 lead over the Lions in the third quarter.

With home-field advantage already wrapped up, the Cowboys didn’t let up in their seventh straight home win while matching their franchise record in victories, reached two other times. The biggest sign they were serious about this one came late in the third quarter, when Bryant took a reverse pitch from Dak Prescott and tucked the ball as if planning to run before pulling up and tossing a lefty lob to Jason Witten for an easy 10-yard score and a 35-21 lead.
