North Korea wins first medal at Asian Winter Games
North Korea won its first medal at the Asian Winter Games on Saturday as Ryom Tae Ok and Kim Ju Sik won the bronze medal in the figure skating pairs event. The North Korean pair, third after the short program, received 112.18 points in Saturday’s free skating for a total of 177.40 points.

Defending pairs champs withdraw from US championships
Defending pairs champions Tarah Kayne and Daniel O’Shea have withdrawn from the U.S. figure skating championships after Kayne suffered a concussion during a fall in the short program. Kayne was taken to the University of Kansas Hospital after the fall during the short program on Thursday.
Osmond leads after short program at Canadian figure skating championships
The 21-year-old from Marystown, N.L., landed three huge triple jumps en route to 81.01 points to take the lead into Saturday’s free program. Gabrielle Daleman of Newmarket, Ont., scored 75.04 for second, while last year’s champion Alaine Chartrand of Brockville, Ont., was third.

She was born on Feb. 11, 1914 to Frank and Johanna Hauber on the family farm between Spillville, Iowa and Ridgeway, Iowa. As a child she stayed with her grandmother in Calmar, Iowa during the week so she could attend Catholic grade school and attended Calmar High School.
