The Rose City Invitational continues today as the Vancouver Whitecaps take on Real Salt Lake and then the Portland Timbers host MLS newcomers Minnesota United in the main event of the night. After a draw in Thursday’s match against RSL, including a red card to Diego Chara prompted by the use of video assists review, the Timbers will be hoping to start to build some momentum today with some strong play from their second unit.

Portland Timbers Pick Up Keeper Jeff Attinella from Minnesota United
On Tuesday the Timbers traded to Minnesota United a 2018 second-round draft pick in exchange for former Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Jeff Attinella. Attinella, 28, was taken by the Loons in the fourth round of the expansion draft after being left off the RSL protected list.
