Purdue women win sixth straight, top Eastern Michigan 77-50

The Purdue women’s basketball team rolled to its sixth straight win Saturday, posting a 77-50 victory over visiting Eastern Michigan at Mackey Arena. The Boilermaker seniors had a big day as Bridget Perry led the team with 19 points, seven rebounds and three steals, while Ashley Morrissette joined the 1,000-career point club at Purdue, becoming the 30th player in program history to hit the mark.

Pumphrey breaks NCAA record, SDSU wins Las Vegas Bowl

Donnel Pumphrey broke the NCAA career rushing record Saturday in his college finale, running for 115 yards and a touchdown in San Diego State’s 34-10 victory over Houston in the Las Vegas Bowl. Pumphrey passed former Wisconsin star Ron Dayne’s mark of 6,397 yards on a 15-yard run early in the fourth quarter, with teammates swarming him on the sideline, and wrapping up his sensational career in his Nevada hometown with 6,405 yards.
