After a narrow loss at home against Michigan State, a missed opportunity, the Gophers showed guts and backbone on the road against a good Purdue team to steal a road win and do more than enough to get back on track early in the conference season. Overall, it’s was a net gain for a Minnesota team desperate to establish themselves as a team to take seriously in the Big Ten.

Douse leads Canisius over Quinnipiac 83-77

Kiefer Douse scored a career-high 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds on Wednesday night – his first career double-double – and Canisius beat Quinnipiac 83-77. The Golden Griffins took the first double-digit lead of the game at 77-66 with a 9-1 run capped by Isaiah Reese’s pair of free throws with 2:50 left.

Wichita State beats Drake 90-65 behind Morris, Smith

Shaquille Morris scored 13 points, Daishon Smith added 13 with three 3-pointers, and Wichita State used a big first half to beat Drake 90-65 on Wednesday night to win its fourth straight and improve its all-time record against the Bulldogs to 41-4. Landry Shamet added 11 points, Markis McDuffie had 10 and grabbed 11 rebounds, and the Shockers outrebounded Drake 54-28, including 18-5 on offensive boards, resulting in 26 second-chance points.

Boston College ends ACC skid, stuns Syracuse

Boston College ended a 20-game conference losing streak with a stunning 96-81 home ACC upset of Syracuse Sunday. Ky Bowman, the reigning ACC freshman of the year, scored 30 points and added nine assists and five rebounds and Jerome Robinson scored 22 points as Boston College recorded its first ACC victory since the 2014-15 regular season finale.

BC crushes Orange 96-81 behind Bowman’s 30 points

Ky Bowman scored 30 points, Jerome Robinson had 22 and Boston College halted a 20-game Atlantic Coast Conference losing streak with a 96-81 win over Syracuse Sunday in the league opener for both schools. A.J. Turner added 16 points and Nik Popovic 11 for Eagles , who went 0-18 last season in league play before losing their one game in the tournament.

Drake surges past WSU women 83-78

Wichita State’s women’s basketball team fell behind by seven points early in Friday night’s game against Drake, then the Shockers went on the offensive. Not just an uphill, constant rally from a deficit WSU could never quite erase, but superior effort that led to numerous offensive rebounds – 19 to be exact.
