New England Patriots LB Elandon Roberts, back in the mix as a starter, returns home for Super Bowl LI

Cornerback Eric Rowe, wide receiver Danny Amendola, tight end Martellus Bennett, and offensive tackle Marcus Cannon all hail from the Houston area. It will be a double homecoming for rookie linebacker Elandon Roberts, who grew up in Port Arthur, Tex., about 50 miles from Houston, and finished his college career at the University of Houston, which will serve as the Patriots’ practice facility for the week.

Boston deflated about facing Atlanta in Super Bowl LI

Falcons fever is taking over Atlanta as the team seeks their first ever Super Bowl title one week from Sunday, but in Boston the home newspaper of the New England Patriots expressed disappointment in facing the Falcons calling Atlanta a city with “zero enthusiasm” for pro sports. The Boston Globe headline: “It’s hard to get pumped up about a Super Bowl against Atlanta.”

Matt Ryan wasn’t worried that he didn’t have his center and top receiver with him for the Falcons’ first Super Bowl practice on Wednesday or for the remainder of the week. The quarterback says he trusts Alex Mack and Julio Jones will do what is necessary to be ready despite missing this week’s practice schedule with injuries.
