Northbound: North County Battalion rebrands itselfJanuary 27, 2017

This week, the North County Battalion, an adult soccer team established in 2015, announced a team rebranding to the “SoCal Surf,” and a new home venue in downtown Carlsbad. Matches in the 2017 spring season will now be played in the Army & Navy Academy’s Maffucci Field, at the western edge of Carlsbad Village, just a couple blocks away from pubs, bars and restaurants.

On Thursday, February 2, Jim Gano, owner of Crown of Flemington, will be hosting the ever-popular Super Bowl Tailgate Networking Event at his newly renovated business located at 33 Reaville Avenue in Flemington . This highly attended event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Crown Trophy’s warehouse, which is located within the Hunterdon Shopping Center.

Jewish day school coach revives player from opposing team

The coach of a Chicago-area Jewish day school baseball team who was sitting in the stands at a school basketball game revived a member of the opposing team who had collapsed on the bench. Steven Greenberg of the Ida Crown Jewish Academy in Skokie, Illinois, located the school’s defibrillator and restarted the heart of a 15-year-old player from Lutheran North High School in an incident from last week, the Chicago CBS affiliate reported.
