Oscar-winning actor Susan Sarandon and Hacks star Hannah Einbinder were among people detained by police in New York on Thursday as they moved in to break up a protest against Benjamin Netanyahu.

Agence France-Presse footage shows NYPD officers cuffing Thelma & Louise star Sarandon at the demo in the city as the Israeli prime minister was readying to address the United Nations general assembly.

Boy, 11, shot in the face and neck in Sydney dies from his injuries

The 11-year-old died at Westmead children’s hospital three days after incident at a unit in Norwest

A boy who was allegedly shot at a home in Sydney’s north-west earlier this week has died.

Police said that the boy, who had been in a critical condition since being found with a gunshot wound at a unit in Norwest on Monday, died in hospital at about 8pm on Thursday.

The gap between Britain’s food and drink exports and imports has neared its highest this century, as a combination of Brexit, war in the Middle East and US tariffs dented deliveries overseas while imports soared.

The UK’s food and drink trade deficit has risen to more than £21bn – the largest since 2000 – in what industry leaders said was a “wake-up call” for the government to protect homegrown produce in the interest of national security.

Man shot and wounded during Trump assassination attempt in Butler in 2024 dies

James Copenhaver, 76, was left with lingering injuries after gunman opened fire from rooftop at Pennsylvania rally

James Copenhaver, one of three campaign rally attendees shot in 2024 during an assassination attempt on then candidate Donald Trump, has died in Pittsburgh, his lawyer said Thursday. He was 76.

Copenhaver was in the bleachers during the event in Butler, Pennsylvania, when a 20-year-old gunman opened fire from a nearby rooftop, grazing Trump’s right ear with one bullet. Copenhaver was struck in the arm and in the abdomen, wounds that left him with lingering injuries and walking with a cane.
